Violin Lessons

Child Playing Violin

Since violin is a fretless instrument, the precise placement of the finger determines to the intonation.
This is why violin is the best instrument for students to learn pitch.

We teach students to think like musicians, not just violinists.
Our violin programs in Elmhurst and Chicago emphasize traditional reading and musicianship. We use the Suzuki method, which is based on rote and playing by ear, for very young students only.

Since violin is often accompanied by piano, we incorporate learning how to play with accompaniment into lessons early on in lessons.

Violin FAQs

What age is appropriate to start learning violin?
Did you know that violin is the instrument which can be studied at the youngest age? We recommend that children start violin lessons at age 4 or older. Of course, it’s never too late to learn an instrument and violin makes a great hobby for adults.

Will students be learning the Suzuki Method?
Only very young students will be using elements of the Suzuki Method. We believe that students should be learning to read music at the same age they are learning to read and write.

Do students need to have their own violin?
In order to get the most out of lessons you need to have your own instrument and bring it to lessons.

What if I don’t have a violin yet?

We can make quality recommendations for you either at a scheduled trial lessons or via email prior to the first lesson. Children under the age of 12 need to have custom sized violins.
